Stockholm sustainable shopping: Fashion

Are you planing your visit to Stockholm? You're missing out if not. Or are you a local? Anyhow, you won’t be able to keep up with all the new places that pop up in the city. Stockholm is actually a great sustainable shopping destination. It has the well established brands and their shops for pre-loved fashion and samples. You'll find plenty of new labels that are dedicated to creating sustainable fashion products and offer sustainable shopping experience. You'll be surprised by the many events for raising awareness for sustainable lifestyle and consumption. Not the mention the second hand shops of the Swedish Red Cross, coupled with countless vintage gems that spread in the most vibrant city neighborhoods. I selected some brands for you to have a effortless Stockholm sustainable shopping experience.

Stockholm sustainable lifestyle

I have to say upfront that this guide is quite comprehensive and it includes sustainable lifestyle. Like healthy and delicious food & drinks. Together with beauty & health care and some mindful activities. The most vibrant neighborhood for sustainable shopping, besides the heart of the city - Norrmalm, is Södermalm. Again, there are plenty of shops, cool cafes, healthy & vegan restaurants everywhere. As a matter of fact in Vasastan, Gamla Stan, Östermalm and Kungsholmen. The neighbourhood names might sound a bit unfamiliar, but once you've landed you'll be fine. It's easy to navigate. Especially if you follow this guide as starting point. Just visit one of the places on this list. Around it you'll find everything else you need. Quick snacks, brunch spots and much more.

Maybe it's because I am sustainable fashion geek and sustainable shopping and lifestyle enthusiast myself. Equally, all the people I hang around with are shopping freaks, so you get the idea. So just read through this blog and I promise you'll be ready for your Stockholm visit. Or to go out and rediscover the city!

Are you looking for a new or pre-loved pair of jeans. Always, right? At Nudie Jeans the pre-loved denim is very well curated. Their denim is 100% organic and non toxic. And every pair comes with a promise of free repairs. No matter when or where you got them. If you're close to Nytorget, the first Nudie Jeans shop is around the corner. Their second shop in Stockholm is in Östermalm.

I came across this shop on my way out from a very special coffee shop. It's called Drop Coffe. They have small separate co-work area where you're invited to use your laptop. In the rest of the space you're encouraged not to use any devices and enjoy their coffee, vegan sandwiches & desserts, and your friends company. The Adis Gladis shop is located on the Mariatorget metro exi. You won't miss it. They have the coolest logo. And wide range of products. Starting from the Veja sneakers to eco lunch boxes. You'll find sustainable alternatives you haven't even thought they exist.

A friend introduced me to this brand. She was a part of their design team. Their luxury garments are traceable from raw material and they're fully transparent with their factories. Besides that, their sizing is quite revolutionary too. Most important, they offer permanent collection of luxury basics at exceptionally good price point. Visit Asket HQ & Showroom just off Odenplan in Vasastan. Afterwards head to any of the Asian restaurants nearby. I would recommend Eatnam. You guessed it, it’s Vietnamese food. Grab takeaway and head to the Vasaparken if the weather is nice. If not, visit the Sven-Harry Art museum or drop in at a yoga class at Atmajyoti Yoga. It’s a temple of peace and relaxation.

Neighborhood: Vasastan

Metro stop: Odenplan

Location: Dalagatan 27, 113 24 Stockholm

Opening hours:

Mon – Thu: 12–7pm

Fri: 11am–3pm

Sun: Closed

Saturday noon is reserved for brunch and sunbathing or cinema. I would recommend to take the bike or the metro and head to Hornstull. On your way to our next Stockholm shopping destination you'll come across Bio Rio. Its a movie theater dedicated to indie & world movies. Moreover, it's very child friendly. Uniquely, they invite you to dinner & movie. Likewise, their bar & bistro is exposed to the sun and the sea. In addition, there is food and flea market across the street. But, you haven't heard the best yet! For all of you leather addicts. The next shopping destination is Deadwood. It’s a treasure for leather goods. In fact their products are made from rescued dead-stock skins, re-purposed vintage clothing and up-cycled post-production waste. On top of it you can donate your old leather garments, Deadwood or otherwise and they'll recycle it and give you a 20% discount on your next purchase. Ah, leather goods. By the way, close by there is a park and swimming is possible if you don't find the water too cold.

Neighborhood: Södermalm

Metro stop: Hornstull

Unfortunately Deadwood close their store at this location. However, they're looking for a new place. Their online store is open 24/7.

Finally, one of my favorite places for sustainable shopping in Stockholm. It's Studio Heijne. This jewel was my introduction to the city, when I arrived for the first time. I was literally residing in their concept store. It's located in the heart of the city center of Stockholm, in the most lively area. Studio Heijne store reflects the brand identity, all their garments as well. Unique, colorful and effortlessly chic. They offer made to measure fashion that you can adjust to your personal preferences. You can get measured for bespoke design or you can choose something from the store. The designer and founder, Wendy will welcome you and help you find something suitable for you. Have a mentioned their brilliant scarves. They are with amazing graphic patterns digitally printed on silk. You can even book a visit to the store outside working hours. Around the corner is Indian Street Food. They prepare the most tasteful vegan curry. For other suggestions please ask Wendy. You'll be in very good hands.

Neighborhood: Norrmalm

Metro stop: T-centralen or Hötorget

Location: Kammakargatan 27, 111 60 Stockholm

I hope you find this guide helpful. I could write a lot more.

Most of the places take cards, you’ll probably be fine without cash.

But please, share your feedback.

Furthermore, let me know if you need more tips in the comments below.
